He says he’s planning to continue the series.

Gentrification? Really? How? Because a boarded up, unusable, bombed out garage should be kept standing?
For what reason?
Really, Stranger? You’re desensitizing us to real gentrification by posting something like this under that label.
i can’t believe they tore down that perfectly good piece of shit graffiti magnet. oh, the horror.
Changed the header, not because I know for sure that the garage was unusable, but because I don’t know for sure what’s intended for the spot now that it’s gone.
Gentrification? Or just densification? It’s not unheard on the Hill for house-plus-garage owners to convert to multifamily after all. Density is a good thing last time I checked, right?
@3, and to spoil a morning’s fun for us. Poop.
Eli,
That is a totally cool montage.
I agree with the others: If I owned that piece of shit, I’d probably tear it down also.
Some truly atrocious, self-indulgent, hipster bullshit photography from Mr. Nedimyer, poorly exposed,s canned and processed. But this is post-modernism, you don’t actually need to waste time the learning skills and craft of your artistic field. Expect to see him as an ad exec in 10 years, busy remodeling his home, wondering where his angry youth went:

this garage was part of the belmont house that chs reported on earlier this year as a dangerous, decaying structure. the garage was the last part of the demolition to get rid of the house, which police refused to step foot in because they considered it a biohazard, which was loaded with asbestos and was partially burned in a fire a few years back.
but by all means, we should keep both structures because it lends an air of character to the neighborhood. stupid gentrification!
@8: The first picture is a nice, moody image. It’s just the rest that are the artistic equivalent of pre-distressed furniture. Nostalgia isn’t something you can just manufacture with a Photoshop filter.
Next week, my cover story is on tainted cocaine!

@10: Nostalgia isn’t something you can just manufacture with a Photoshop filter.
You’re partially right; it’s not a filter, it’s a plugin you can download.
It’s bugging me – I know I have walked my dog past there a kazillion times, but I’m blanking on where it is.
Stay classy, street “artists.”
SO uninteresting Jen. Do you REALLY have nothing else to bring to the table than this drudge?? And this gets 14 hits with NONE of them have anything interesting or worthy to say about the “art”…UGH! Can’t you come up with something compelling and stylish that’s happening in the NW Art world-wasting SLOG space on unworthy art and artists is YOU not doing your JOB! Art funding? Ebsworth’s Warhol “disappointment”? BTW-a rumored $20 million profit is not too shabby in my book, but it is not interesting WHY he didn’t get 10-30 million more-please!), Art students “talk” tonight”? COME ON GRAVES! Ever REALLY look a the influence of African Art on African American artists instead of stupidly commenting on the fact that “it’s everywhere these days”(especially when the Katherine White/SAM collection is one of the strongest collections that exists) Wasn’t it first Thursday last week? Ever do a studio visit? Ever try focusing on outlying regional artists, craftspeople, or interviewing young artists? What DO YOU DO??? This week was a call in and a loser! And that makes you a loser at your job-straight up! Maybe if you were interested in art instead of “cultural cool” you’d have more passion in your column and your writing.
The house was located at belmont and republican. They used to have strange sculptures in the front yard with broke tvs and such. I never minded living across from it.
