The Event Brings the Nexus of Militarism and Climate Destruction to the Seattle Convention Center on Tuesday

Boeing is currently the world’s third-largest weapons transnational corporation (W-TNC), and one of the foremost profiteers from armed conflict all over the world. Alex Garland

LOL, considering Boeing's track record lately, any anti-military person should be happy they're supplying warplanes.

2

Enjoy your futile protest.

3

OK.
What impact do you think you’ll have?
On anything?

4

Seems link such a convoluted thing to get passionate about.

5

Glad you guys are protesting. Fuck the haters. Learned helplessness is a disease that rots the mind, as we can see here in the comments section.

6

Although this rant got a little loose (it was kind of all over the place), I support direct action against companies you feel are directly involved. More power to you / stick it to those McDonnell Douglas stooges.

But if you all start breaking shit not related to Boeing, then F you all - you’ve lost me.

7

Attack the companies that pay all the taxes on the things you support. What could go wrong?

8

No in fact these corporate behemoths do not pay anywhere near their share of taxes. They pass that on to you all. Corporate welfare along with ever increasing defense appropriations that get paid for by working people. That's what's gone wrong. Eisenhower (Ike)dubbed it the military industrial complex. He would have known.

BarnOwl dear, it's not so much that they don't pay taxes (I agree with you on that). But Boeing is one of the state's largest employers, and that puts a lot of food on a lot of tables. The same is true of Amazon. And Boeing is know for its philanthropy (Amazon not so much).

Many people hold noble ideas until their life and livelihoods is threatened.

@8 -- "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.

It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter with a half-million bushels of wheat.

We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. . . .

This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

@8 feel free to define fair share when you use that term.

Ahoy Vel-DuRay et al.
The same boeing co. has had more tax breaks lavished on them by the state legislature than any other corporation in WA state history. Without clawbacks. Yet they still outsource jobs whenever it suits them. They've done a lot of that in the past 2 decades you might have noticed. IMO it would be better for everyone if we made these war profiteering companies pay their taxes and held them accountable for their heavy hand in international and domestic affairs.

BarnOwl dear, re-read my comment. We are like two ships passing in the night.

A ‘cease-fire’ in 1944/1945 would have saved a great many German / Japanese lives. It would have also left Hitler / Tojo in power. The ‘cease-fire’ crowd should be seen as pro-Hitler or at very least Hitler tolerant.
