When: Sat April 23
Where: By the freeway in the U-District

The house has no number on the front, so when we arrive, we have to walk into the yard and try to figure out from which residence the music is coming. The sound echoes off both abodes, but luckily we go inside the right one on the first try.

The living room is deserted except for a motherly type, a girl sitting on a couch, and an electric piano. Since all of the houses in the U-District are laid out exactly the same, we know how to get downstairs to hear the band, who turn out to be Casy+Brian (formerly known as Catbees); they're just testing out their amps before their set. The invitation indicated that there would be many bands playing, but the lack of equipment suggests the invitation was plain wrong.

The band starts playing, and the show-goers cram into the small space between the water heater and the wall. Though there are only about 15 people, the space is so cramped that the only dance move possible is the "I don't have enough room to dance, so I'm just going to tap my foot and vibrate." Casy's daughter Sophia hands out drumsticks to the dancers, and they start tattooing a complex beat on the overhead pipes with them. The songs last about 36 seconds each, but the band plays a pretty long set, with Sophia chiming in on the last number.

Afterward, all of the attendees go upstairs to the porch to smoke. Casy+Brian start picking up their equipment, and Sophia starts running around to see who wants autographs after her stunning performance. She draws Party Crasher a masterly picture of Hamtaro (an anime hamster, we think) and we leave happy.
